Turn intention into action

If you have capable people, why is it still so hard to get things done?

You know you have good people. You've invested in training. You've asked people to change how they work. Yet the same problems keep coming back.

I help organisations identify what's getting in the way, then redesign how people lead, work together and get things done.

What's getting in the way?

Do any of these sound familiar?

It's not always clear who's meant to be doing what.
Work gets stuck when it moves between teams.
People struggle to get others on board when they don't report to them.
Customers get a different experience depending on who they deal with.

A simple truth

What looks like a people problem is often a system problem.

The challenges you've identified may look separate. But they can be different symptoms of the same underlying issue: the system shaping how work gets done.

PROCESSES

How work is designed and organised.

CULTURE

I help organisations redesign the systems that produce their culture.

The people, principles and processes in your organisation shape how work gets done and what employees and customers experience. Over time, that becomes the culture.

My starting question is simple:

That question helps identify what is working, what is getting in the way and where change will have the greatest impact.

"Does this serve everyone it's supposed to serve?"

The problems we can solve together

Three common organisational challenges.

The same underlying system problems can show up in different ways. These are three challenges I commonly help organisations address.

People

Progress depends on people you don't manage.

People are expected to move work forward but rely on colleagues they do not manage, making it difficult to build commitment, influence others and maintain momentum without being able to simply tell people what to do.

Principles

Capable teams are pulling in different directions.

Different assumptions about decisions, ownership, communication and accountability create delay, duplication and frustration.

Processes

Processes produce inconsistent experiences.

A process may appear to work overall while creating friction or very different outcomes for the employees or customers using it.

How I help address these challenges

Culture is a system. Systems can be designed.

Leaders can set a new direction and make it clear what needs to change. But if the system around people continues to reinforce the old way of doing things, the change is unlikely to stay.
